The Expert is a socio-cultural anthropologist trained at Cambridge and Harvard universities. She has ten years' experience conducting policy-oriented qualitative and quantitative research on development, health, and environmental issues in central Africa (Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, and Uganda), including over 26 months of field-based research in the western and central regions of DRC​. She is fluent in French and Lingala and has extensive experience working with indigenous communities (Batwa, BaAka), and with many other ethnic groups in central Africa, on issues surrounding marginalization, land disputes, and gender-based violence. She has experience working with national, provincial and local institutions, and is on the advisory board for two environmental NGOs which support local communities in DRC. She is currently a Research Fellow in the Anthropology Department of Harvard University.

The Expert is a US-based international social scientist, researcher, and forensic counselor (criminal justice specialist) with a doctorate in clinical psychology. The Expert is a member of the UNESCO scientific and education CID council and of the International Criminal Court, a Psycho-social Victim Gender Expert for trauma with war crimes and war crimes survivors. She is a trauma clinician who has traveled the world bearing witness to―and researching how to heal transgenerational trauma and continues to make crisis responses while addressing the needs of immigrants and refugees during and in the aftermath of natural disasters and wars. Trauma response and social science and research fieldwork occurred in Afghanistan, Haiti, India, Sri Lanka, and many conflict-ridden regions and war regions.

The Expert's international trauma work occurred in Sub-Saharan Africa for the International Criminal Court and the United Nations World Food Program in Sudan. The Expert has worked extensively in the fields of Transitional Justice, Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration of Ex-Combatants, Security Sector Reform, Sustainable Livelihoods, Gender and Conflict Resolution in Africa.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History and a Master’s degree in Gender Studies from University of Sierra Leone; another Master’s degree in International Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam; and a Doctorate degree in Economics from the Leipzig Graduate School of Management in Germany.

He currently lectures at the Peace and Conflict Studies Programme, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and he is also a senior partner at Transition International, a consultancy firm based in the Netherlands.

The Expert is a psychoanalytical anthropologist of violent ethnic & cultural conflict in Eurasia, South Asia, Middle East, Central and South America, West Africa, North Africa and the Horn of Africa with experience working in military, diplomatic, and humanitarian interventions in intra-state violent conflicts.

The Expert is a social science researcher and Assistant Professor of African politics. She has expertise with quantitative & qualitative research on energy, climate change, environment, natural resource management, democracy, human rights, civil society, education, and forced migration. Dr Imam brings more than two decades of experience in mixed methods international social science practice, research, and teaching around the world, focusing on East and West Africa, South Asia, USA, and Central Asia. Her interests involve research, development, and instruction on advanced issues of human rights, international conventions on human, civil, and political rights, and against torture; police service, judicial and quasi-judicial institutions, and persecution; grievance redressal arrangements; gender analysis, gender equality, gender-based violence, forced marriages, and sexual abuse; child abuse, child marriages, and violence against children; climate-related issues; and more. She has written books and scholarly articles about public administration, employing quantitative data and qualitative streams of historical changes in socioeconomic, judicial, political, and administrative institutions.

Her work employs innovative research methodologies, focusing on getting to the crux of socio-cultural and institutional situations to deliver efficient solutions that take into account complex dynamics involving human rights, child rights, gender equality, sustainability, and other such standards, in diverse socio-political contexts.

Lecturer in African Studies at the University of Edinburgh with extensive experience researching and writing about violent social groups and discrimination in selected African countries.  

The Expert (PhD) is Full Professor of Social and Political Anthropology at the University of Bologna. Member of the Italian Ethnological Mission in Equatorial Africa, since 2001 he has carried out a field research on youth and war, childhood crisis, informal economies and the frontier in North Kivu (Democratic Republic of Congo). He is currently carrying on a research on Eritrean refugees in Kampala and on the conflict between central government and traditional kingdoms in Kasese district.

Dr. Muzong W. Kodi has more than 40 years of research, writing and lecturing on Africa as well as working and residing in several African countries. He has written more than 200 country expert reports for asylum seekers and other migrants from several African countries. He has also provided more than 100 authentication reports for official documents and several reports on nationality and adoption cases. As a consultant, he has been contracted by international organisations, regional African organisations, and multinational companies. He previously held senior management positions in Transparency International, Amnesty, International, and the African Centre for Monetary Studies. I also taught at the University of Nairobi in Kenya and the University of Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He holds a PhD in African History from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, USA, and speaks fluent French, English, Lingala, and Kikongo, as well as intermediary Swahili.

Lwanga Gasuza Musisi is a dedicated project manager currently spearheading initiatives at Africans in Partnership Against AIDS in Toronto, Canada. Combining his passion for social justice with both non-profit and academic endeavors, Lwanga envisions transformative change at both macro and micro levels. Recently defending his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, OISE, in the Social Justice department, Lwanga delved into the exploration of "Normalcy" within the Ugandan Education system, particularly focusing on its impact on children with autism. His academic journey also includes a Master's degree from the same department in 2017 and a Bachelors Specialist degree in Anthropology, where he was a Dean's List Scholar and graduated with High Distinction at the same university.

Beyond academia, Lwanga's leadership prowess was showcased during his four term tenure as the President of the University of Toronto Graduate Students' Union (UTGSU), where he ardently advocated for the diverse needs of the graduate student community. The Expert is an independent research consultant with over ten years of experience. He specialises in the Great Lakes Region of Africa (DRC – Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan). The Expert’s consulting services serve as a powerful tool and resource to enhance donors’ and aid agencies’ capacity building and promote policies and programs that are more realistic, based on institutions’ configurations and better adapted to grassroots needs. He has gained a wide range of experience in participatory research programs and stakeholders’ engagement, including political mediation for civil society organisations in conflict-affected areas. The Expert is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Acadia University. She received her PhD from the Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Social Justice at the University of British Columbia. She is concerned with issues of health equity, particularly in relation to gender relations and transnational health activities. She is the author of Global Health and the Village: Transnational Contexts Governing Birth in Northern Uganda.

The Expert is an Associate Professor in the Walsh School of Foreign Service and the Department of Government at Georgetown University and the Director of the African Studies Program. She is a Political Scientist with a particular interest in citizenship, migration and political development in Africa.
