JUM Nazmul Hossain

My academic and professional qualifications include an undergraduate in Psychology (Academic year: 1997) and a post-graduate degree and training (Academic year: 1997-98 and 1999-2000) in Clinical Psychology. My clinical work is diverse and covers assessment and therapy for adults and minority ethnic groups for various conditions. As a multilingual psychologist with multi-cultural experience, I can assess efficiently and provide culturally emotional sensitive service.

My employment history involves working as a psychologist:

1. In the UK, I have been working in the UK for last 18 years. I used to work with Nafas Drug Treatment Centre (my post was funded by NHS), All Together Project (UK Gov.), PR UK and The UK Centre for Counselling & Psychotherapy, London School of Psychology and Health.

I have also gained international experience by working in India and Bangladesh.

2. In India, with People in Distress (PID). Currently, I am working as a Part time Faculty for Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Hospital Management with International Medical Centre.

3. In Bangladesh, with National Institute of Mental Health, Marie Stopes Clinic, International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR, B) - a worldwide organisation for research and invention for oral saline for diarrhoea, Social Marketing Company (SMC) - the world’s biggest social marketing company, National Hotline Counselling Project of UNICEF, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Psychological Health and Wellness Clinic (PHWC) and many more. Furthermore, I was a visiting lecturer for the two best university colleges of Bangladesh: Dhaka College and Chittagong (CTG) College in the Department of Psychology.

One of my professional regulated bodies is National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (Membership number: NCS23-05583), accredited by The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care and The Department of Health, accountable to UK Parliament, ensures all registrants are safe, competent and ethical practitioners (Professional Standards Authority).

I am a member of The Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), a Royal Charter-recognized body (Membership No. 117427).CASES upholds the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional practice, ensuring its members maintain excellence, credibility, and a strong commitment to public interest.

As a British psychologist, I am also working part-time with different organisations in abroad like: WeVolve Mental Health Service, Monobikash Centre, Bangladesh Psychiatric Care Ltd and a variety of different online mental health services like DocTime, Dr.Live, Consel Health, Doctor Koi and Zaynax Health.

Experience

Currently, I am a Director and Consultant Psychologist who works at the Centre for Psychological Health UK and Bangladesh. I have been working as a practicing psychologist in different fields of mental health for more than 25 years in the UK, India and Bangladesh.

 I have prepared more than 220 well-referenced expert psychological and country reports for Family Court, Immigration Court, Home Office, Department of Work and Pensions, and Land Registry in the UK (as of June 2025).

Publications

I have been deeply involved in research since 1998, conducting numerous studies across various topics. Currently, I am leading a study titled 'PTSD and Suicidal Ideation among Refugee and Humanitarian Seekers in the UK.'
