Part 1: Thursday 23 Feb 2023, 10:00 – 13:00 (3.0 CPD Hours)
Part 2: Thursday 02 Mar 2023, 10:00 – 13:00 (3.0 CPD Hours)

Our popular Significant Others session is back: covering all aspects of applications for spouses, civil, unmarried and same sex partners. Participants should leave this course having a clear understanding of the more difficult issues relevant to making applications by the partners of British citizens and settled people, and gain confidence and practical tips for advising clients with complicated claims.

Part 1:

Overview of Appendix FM as it relates to partners including:

• Special focus on unmarried partners

• 'Getting hitched'

• Genuine & subsisting relationships

• Home Office delays and maintaining relationships

EU Settlement Scheme update and strategies

Part 2:

Part 2 will have a focus on partners with an adverse immigration history or cannot meet the standard requirements of the rules including:

• Paragraph EX

• Exceptional circumstances

• Article 8 ECHR

• Paragraph 320(11)

• Appeal rights, MyHMCTS & implementation

Please note that this session will not cover the financial requirements of Appendix FM in detail or other family members.
