Garden Court North Chambers has published a useful guide to LASPO 2012 for immigration law.

The guide by GCN pupil Tom Royston addresses the following questions about Part 1 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (the Part concerning legal aid), as it relates to immigration law (relevant to immigration law from April 2013 onwards):

• When does it come into force?
• What immigration work will be in scope under the new scheme?
• What was in scope under the old scheme?
• What is the difference between the old and new schemes?
• In exceptional cases, is legal aid available for out-of-scope matters?
• Have the new contracts been awarded yet?
• What transitional provision is being made?
• Where can one obtain more information?
