Supreme Court landmark ruling allows mother to remain in UK


01 Feb 2011: Supreme Court press summary following the judgment in ZH (Tanzania) v SSHD. The court ruled that an illegal immigrant from Tanzania has the right to stay in the UK because her two children were born in Britain. <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/feb/01/asylum-immigration-mother-huma…; target="_blank">The Guardian<a/> says that the "landmark ruling" expands the law on the human rights of British children whose parents face removal, and also delivered a stark warning to immigration authorities to change their approach to dealing with young people.

European Court of Human Rights rules returns to Greece violate human rights


21 Jan 2011: The European Court of Human Rights has held that returning asylum-seekers to Greece under the Dublin II Regulation is a violation of the European Convention on Human Rights. Amnesty International says "today's landmark ruling will have a lasting impact by enhancing the protection of human rights of asylum-seekers in the European Union".
