EIN were saddened by the news of Gina Clayton’s recent passing. Gina was a passionate migrant rights advocate who touched so many people’s lives. We are grateful for having worked with Gina in her capacity as Clinic Supervisor at Sheffield Hallam University’s HKC Refugee Law Clinic. Our thoughts and condolences are with her family and colleagues. Below is the announcement posted by her colleagues at the HKC Refugee Rights Hub.

It is with the deepest sadness that we are posting to let you know of the passing of Gina Clayton, our wonderful colleague and friend, author, practitioner - academic , specialist , solicitor, pioneer, indomitable fighter for social justice and passionate campaigner in all things asylum, immigration and human rights related.

Gina will always be missed here at Sheffield Hallam HKC Refugee Rights Hub but we have her books and will remember her advice and are so lucky to be able to carry on her work here in the Hub.

We were just one of the many organisations Gina devoted her time, advice and kindness to, shared her values with and shaped.  Gina will forever be missed and leaves a huge hole in the sector. Gina was petite in person but huge in presence, her sharp intellect, wittiness and generosity of spirit transformed  the lives of so many.
