1. I am a Barrister and practising Advocate of the Appellate Division and High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, possessing more than fifteen (15) years of extensive and in-depth experience in dealing with complex criminal, commercial, maritime, and revenue disputes within the legal framework of Bangladesh. Over the course of my professional career, I have earned a distinguished reputation for legal precision, strategic litigation planning, and resolute commitment to client advocacy. I have been continuously engaged in high-stakes dispute resolution proceedings before a wide spectrum of judicial and quasi-judicial forums in Bangladesh, including the both the Divisions of Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Sub-ordinate Courts and Tribunals constituted under both institutional and ad hoc rules.
2. My area of expertise encompass a diverse spectrum of legal practice with a principal focus on constitutional protections, criminal justice, the enforcement of human rights standards within the framework of Bangladeshi and international law, alongside specialization in commercial contract disputes, international trade and regulatory compliance, maritime law and public procurement, where I advise on legislative compliance, guide clients through complex bidding and contractual processes, and represent them in procurement-related disputes and arbitration proceedings.
3. In parallel, a significant focus of my practice lies in the field of criminal justice and human rights, where I have consistently engaged in defending individuals subjected to political persecution, custodial abuse, and procedural violations. I have acted in numerous cases challenging unlawful arrests, fabricated charges, and rights infringements, particularly during politically sensitive periods. Most notably, before and in the aftermath of the 2014 national election, I successfully secured bail for numerous activists and members of the then Opposition Parties who had been detained under politically motivated accusations. My work in this area is grounded in the constitutional commitment to due process, liberty, and equal protection under the law.
4. Significantly, I appeared as counsel in Criminal Miscellaneous Case No. 10085 of 2016, where the Hon’ble High Court Division (per Justice M. Inayetur Rahim and Justice Md. Mostafizur Rahman) delivered a landmark ruling under Section 561A of the Code of Criminal Procedure, quashing the conviction of a petitioner under Section 11(c) of the Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Ain, 2000 on grounds of reconciliation and social interest. Despite the non-compoundable nature of the offence, the Court exercised its inherent jurisdiction in favour of justice and family unity, setting a rare and progressive precedent in the interpretation of noncompoundable criminal provisions in Bangladesh. Subsequently, the law was amended following the judgement through an official gazette to incorporate the option of settlement and mediation under Section 11(c) of the Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Ain, 2000.
5. In the course of my legal practice, I have had the opportunity to represent individuals subjected to religious and state persecution, particularly in cases involving persons of Islamic conviction. Notably, I have acted on behalf of clients who faced arrest and prolonged detention for merely seeking to establish an Islamic school in their local community—an initiative that was entirely peaceful and educational in nature. The couples involved were apprehended without credible evidence of wrongdoing, and their constitutional rights to freedom of religion and association were severely infringed upon.
6. I am firmly dedicated to delivering bespoke legal solutions that are strategically tailored to individual client needs, ensuring regulatory compliance and securing the most favourable outcomes in all contentious legal matters. Beyond my legal practice, I am also an avid reader with a deep-seated intellectual interest in history and political science.
7. It is pertinent to mention that my firm and I have been recognised as a leading law firm by The Legal 500, a globally respected legal directory that ranks top-tier firms based on in-depth analysis and client feedback. This recognition reflects me and my team’s consistent commitment to legal excellence, client service, and impactful advocacy across complex and high-profile matters.
8. I am also a recognised academic with a proven record of teaching and lecturing in the fields of Jurisprudence and Criminal and Constitutional Law under the University of London International Programmes in Bangladesh. This academic engagement has significantly enriched my understanding of constitutional doctrines, principles of administrative legality, and the complex interplay between public and private legal frameworks.
