This full day conference will examine topical areas of immigration law and is a follow-up event of last year’s very successful EU Law & Post-Brexit Immigration Conference (featured in the Free Movement Blog here - https://www.freemovement.org.uk/glasgow-brexitcon-report/)

Like last year, the free proceeds of the event will be donated to the World Care Foundation, a humanitarian and refugee charity with a 100% donation policy.

Delegates will have an opportunity to hear from distinguished Counsel at the Scottish and English Bar as well as expert practitioners from leading immigration firms throughout Scotland.

The event will be chaired by Bilaal Shabbir, an Accredited Paralegal at MBS Solicitors & Head of the Court of Session Department.

The event is designed to provide useful, practical guidance and expert insights into new developments in the law and legal practice, including:

  • Dos & Don’ts in the Tribunal: An Immigration Judge’s Perspective
  • Business Immigration Updates
  • Common Issues in Entrepreneur Applications
  • Effectiveness of Out of Country Appeals
  • Civil Penalties
  • Case Law Update

Further topics will be confirmed closer to the event.

Speakers will include:

  • Sonali Naik QC (Barrister, Garden Court Chambers)
  • Stuart McWilliams (Senior Associate, Morton Fraser LLP)
  • Jamie Kerr (Partner, Thorntons)
  • Joe Bryce (Advocate, Hastie Stables)
  • Alan Caskie (Advocate, Hastie Stables)
  • Roddy McIlvride QC (Advocate, Terra Firma Chambers)

Further speakers will be confirmed closer to the event.

The event is likely to be in very high demand. Spacing is limited and prior booking will be necessary. Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. If after booking you cannot subsequently attend, please let us know to avoid disappointment to others.

The event will be of interest to practitioners, academics, law students and stakeholders.

The event is eligible for 5 hours CPD.
