The Coalition
Against Trafficking in Women-International (CATW) is a
non-governmental organization that promotes women's human
rights by working internationally to combat sexual exploitation
in all its forms. Founded in 1988, CATW was the first
international non-governmental organization to focus on
human trafficking, especially sex trafficking of women
and girls. Their library includes - Articles, Best Practices,
CATW Coalition Report, International Agreements, Legislation,
Prostitution Law Reform, Reports. Their online Factbook
on Global Sexual Exploitation (1999) at: contains
basic statistics and details for individual countries.
UNICEF
Innocenti Research Centre
The UNICEF
Innocenti Research Centre has an online database on child
trafficking here which can be easily searched. Choosing
a country from the drop down menu called 'geographic descriptors'
pulls up many relevant news items, articles and reports
on child trafficking in that country and is a useful resource.

Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking
of Children for Sexual Purposes (ECPAT)
ECPAT is a network of organisations and individuals working
together to eliminate the commercial sexual exploitation
of children. It seeks to encourage the world community
to ensure that children everywhere enjoy their fundamental
rights free from all forms of commercial sexual exploitation.

ECPAT UK
ECPAT UK is a leading children's rights organisation that is part of the ECPAT International network and campaigns against the commercial sexual exploitation of children in the UK and on its international aspects.
It represents a coalition of leading UK organisations working for the protection of children's rights, which are: Anti-Slavery International, NSPCC, Save the Children UK, The Children's Society, UNICEF UK, Jubilee Campaign and World Vision UK. It carries out monitoring and research as well as providing
training and capacity building on safeguarding trafficked
children. The site contains research reports on trafficking
in the UK and also country briefing papers on trafficking
in several countries.
Anti-Slavery
International
Anti-Slavery
International, founded in 1839, is the world's oldest
international human rights organisation and the only charity
in the United Kingdom to work exclusively against slavery
and related abuses. It works at local, national and international
levels to eliminate the system of slavery around the world.
As a research and campaigning organisation, Anti-Slavery
International has built up a large collection of reference
materials housed in the library at London offices. It

Organization for Migration
Established
in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization
in the field of migration and works closely with governmental,
intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. With
120 member states, a further 20 states holding observer
status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated
to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit
of all. It does so by providing services and advice to

Children and Human Trafficking.
The main aim
of Interpol is to promote the widest possible mutual assistance
between all criminal police authorities. It provides a
structured platform for raising awareness, building competence
and identifying best practices within law enforcement
worldwide. It is a forum for exchanging information on
current trends and investigations. Trafficking in human
beings is considered one of the top priorities at Interpol.

The
'Honour Crimes' Project
The 'Honour
Crimes' Project is jointly co-ordinated by CIMEL (Centre
of Islamic and Middle Eastern Laws) at the School of Oriental
and African Studies, London University and INTERIGHTS
(International Centre for the Legal Protection of Human
Rights). In its first year (July 2000 - June 2001), the
Project undertook several activities including:
- undertaking a 'mapping exercise' to identify the work done and currently being undertaken to address the issue of 'honour' crimes globally. The 'mapping exercise' has resulted in a Directory available on this website and by hard copy via CIMEL on request;

Asylum Aid
Asylum Aid

Helsinki Federation for Human Rights (IHF)
The International
Helsinki Federation for Human Rights (IHF) is an international,
nongovernmental organization constituted by national Helsinki
Committees and Cooperating Organizations in the participating
States of the Organization for Security and Cooperation
in Europe (OSCE). The IHF seeks to promote compliance
with the human rights provisions of the Helsinki Final
Act and its follow-up documents, with international legal
obligations undertaken in the Council of Europe (CoE)
and the United Nations (UN), and with human rights norms
promoted by the European Union (EU). The IHF mandate is
to protect and strengthen civil society groups that monitor
and report on human rights issues from a non-partisan
perspective, and to bring them together on a common international
platform. The IHF represents its affiliates on the international
political level and in the media, supports and assists
their human rights monitoring and advocacy activities,
and disseminates documentation based on their research.

Internal
Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC)
The Internal
Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC), established in
1998 by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), is the leading
international body monitoring conflict-induced internal
displacement worldwide.
Through its work, the Centre contributes to improving
national and international capacities to protect and assist
the millions of people around the globe who have been
displaced within their own country as a result of conflicts
or human rights violations.
At the request
of the United Nations, the Geneva-based IDMC runs an online
database providing comprehensive information and analysis
on internal displacement in some 50 countries. Based on
its monitoring and data collection activities, the Centre
advocates for durable solutions to the plight of the internally
displaced in line with international standards. The IDMC
also carries out training activities to enhance the capacity
of local actors to respond to the needs of internally
displaced people (IDPs). In its work, the Centre cooperates
with and provides support to local and national civil
society initiatives.
World Health
Organisation
WHO is the
directing and coordinating authority for health within
the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing
leadership on global health matters, shaping the health
research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating
evidence-based policy options, providing technical support
to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.
