Section 46 2006 Act (Inspection of detention facilities) amending s5A Prison Act 1952, in force from 31 August 2006
This ensures that the remit of the HM Inspector for Prisons to review immigration short-term holding facilities and escort arrangements is placed on a firm statutory footing. Previously the Inspector had reviewed them on a voluntary basis. The position in relation to short-term holding facilities and escort arrangements is now the same as for removal centres.
