We are looking to recruit
a small number of high calibre graduates to join our team as caseworkers.
You will be working alongside one of our twelve solicitors who specialise
in this field. You will get hands on experience of immigration law including
representing asylum seekers in their claims for protection. The work
embraces both human rights law and refugee law. Previous holders of
this position have gone on to become trainee solicitors in the firm
and then on to successful careers as solicitors in the firm. Others
have followed a casework career with the firm.
Full training will be given
and we will help you to become accredited so that you will have the
SRA Level 1 qualification (and move on to the Level 2 qualification).
You should have a very good academic record (2.1 minimum) and ideally
be able to show a commitment to this area of law through your academic
studies or previous work experience, including voluntary or campaigning
work. You should have a commitment to working in the legal aid sector.
This position is suitable
for both those looking for a career as a caseworker and those planning
to study for the GDL, LPC or BVC in the future. We also welcome applications
from those studying for their GDL, LPC or BVC part-time.
We are looking for people
who can take up the position at the beginning of September 2009 or soon
after.
