OISC LEVEL 2 JUNIOR CASEWORKER

Sindhu Immigration Services is a newly established immigration firm based in the heart of Ilford. It is a rapidly growing organisation and we are seeking a junior caseworker to join our team (subject to a probabtion period of THREE months). We are looking for a desirable candidate who holds a previous experience of minimum 1 year within the immigration legal sector and is OISC Level 2/IAAS accredited.

Overall purpose of the job
• Undertake casework and manage a caseload up to level of competence/accreditation.
• Preparation and management of applications to Home Office.
• To advise clients regarding procedure and practice.
• Attend Asylum and Screening Interviews with client at Home Office upon request.

Main Tasks
1. Represent clients before Home Office in writing including preparation of cases.
2. Draft witness statements, representations and other complex documents and letters using word-processor.
3. Preparation and management of applications to the Home Office.
4. Ensure all contact with the client and any other action taken in respect of cases is recorded on attendance notes and regularly updated on the database.
5. Liaise with Immigration Authorities, other agencies, and groups as required.
6. Interview and advise clients regarding Immigration/Asylum law, procedure, and practice. Provide guidance to clients on completion of documents.
7. Attend clients in detention centres and surgeries on occasions where appropriate.
8. Meet specified casework and other targets as set by Supervisor.
9. Support staff where direct administrative and secretarial support is needed.
11. Keep up-to-date at all times with changes in Immigration/Asylum law by reading, attending training events and using computer for reference purposes.

Requirements
• Fully Accredited to Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme Level 1 or registered at OISC level 2.
• Minimum of one year’s full-time experience in Immigration and Asylum legal advice and representation, covering all heads of policy under the immigration rules.
• Minimum of 1 year’s experience of working to Quality Assurance Standards (Specialist Quality Mark)
• Experience of using computer software such as MS word, spread-sheets, databases and the ability to type and prepare own documents.
