Challenging removalsDate: 20th Jul 2010, 4 – 7.15pm Venue: London Speakers: Steve Bravery, Paragon Law & Nicola Cockburn, Refugee and Migrant Justice Details: All those who heard Steve Bravery and Nichola Cockburn speak at ILPA's AGM will be aware of their extensive experience in identifying and taking forward challenges to removal. The session will consider the new Chapter 60 of the Enforcement Guidance and Instructions in depth, as well as the Civil Procedure Rules and Practice Direction 18. It will look at the UK Border Agency's policies on enforcement, the use of judicial review and how to cope with the many practical difficulties that arise in these cases, sharing experiences and case studies. . Steve Bravery is co-convenor of the ILPA Detention and Asylum Fast Track Subcommittee. He has over ten years experience as a criminal law practitioner in addition to his extensive experience of immigration cases. Nichola Cockburn has extensive experience of challenges to removal and particular experience in challenges before the Administrative Court. Both have represented ILPA in discussions with the UK Agency on the lawfulness of its policies and practice on removal. No immigration lawyer can afford to be without a clear understanding of what to do in removal cases and all are strongly recommended to attend this course.
