HJT - Bail & Detention: The New Regime and It's Challenges

Bail and Detention – The new regime it’s challenges and opportunities

On 15 January 2018 the new bail regime came into effect and temporary admission was no more.

In this course we will:

– Review the new system for bail from the Home Office and the Tribunal;

– Explore it’s more  challenging implications, in particular the 7 day bar to bail applications post detention and the availability and use of new conditions, including barriers to study and routine tagging.

The course will also appraise the developing case law on unlawful detention, in particular that relating to vulnerable categories of detainee, and the policy and casework instructions relating to the same.

Delegates will be provided with a set of printed materials.
