Notes on Completing the EIN Membership Form
General: Please use this secure form to sign up as a member of the Electronic Immigration Network (EIN). If you have any problems please email admin@ein.org.uk. You can also request a form to be emailed, faxed or posted to you if you have any problems completing the form (academic institutions & libraries especially may have problems - see below). As noted it is a secure form, meaning all your details - including any credit card information will be safely encrypted - before being forwarded to us. Types of membership: Becoming a member will lead to you getting a username and password that will allow you access to the EIN Members Site. There are two major levels of membership. The first is purely an EIN Membership, which allows you to access the case law database, and the members' resources and legislation areas, as well as Members Bulletin Boards and mailing lists. The second is a HJT Membership, which allows access to the Country of Origin database, as well as the Members Bulletin Boards and mailing lists. Finally there is a joint membership which allows access to the whole site. For more information on the services provided please visit the About Us section. There are also restrictions to some of the Bulletin Boards (e.g. only EIN Trustees and Advisory Panel members can access these internal Bulletin Boards). How much does it cost?: The rates vary depending on how many passwords you want and membership type. Rates information can be seen here. Password information: Once you complete this form you will be shown your EIN username and password. Please write them down and keep them safe. For security reasons we will not necessarily have a record of your password at EIN, so it is important that you keep a record of it. The username will all be in lower case and the password will be in the format of 4 upper case letters and 3 numbers. PLEASE NOTE that the password will not be useable until we have verified the payment details - we will contact you when this is done. We allow up to 28 days to do this, but normally it can be done within a working week. Multiple users: You can enter multiple users using this form. When you have completed the first entry, and received your password you will be asked whether you wish to enter another user. Obviously if this is just a single membership say 'no' and you will be returned to the site. Otherwise you will be returned to the form, where most of the organisation and address details will be pre-completed for you. Add in the individual users until you have finished. We will receive all the forms together and be able to process as one member, charging the appropriate group membership rate. Generic passwords: Academic memberships can use generic names (such as 'unilaw1', 'unilaw2' etc.). Anyone who wishes to use this sort of generic name should contact the office to get a form they can complete 'off-line'. Individual fields: On the form please note that fields with an asterix (*) are compulsory fields. Further notes on each field follow. First Name and Last Name are for your forename and surname. These will be used as the basis of your username e.g. John Smith would become "j.smith". Where we already have a j.smith' you would be assigned the name "j.smith1". Occupation / Job Title is not compulsory, but where there is no organisation it is useful for us to know why you need access to the service, so please add your professional capacity if important. Organisation is important to us, if it is an organisational membership. EIN will invoice, and record an organisation rather than an individual. If you are using the form to add your name to an existing organisational membership please complete the details exactly as they appear on EIN invoices, and make a note to that effect in comments. We can then deal directly with the organisational contact about any financial implications Email address is compulsory because we communicate with users (e.g. send newsletters, membership renewal reminders etc.) primarily via email. If you do not have your own email address please put an address of a business or contact where we can reach you or make a note in the box of how we can contact you. Membership type indicates how much you will pay and what you will get access to (as per introduction above). Voluntary and academic memberships may be subject to a 50% reduction so we will need some proof of authenticity (either supply a website that has the same contact details in the comments box or fax/post further information to us). Trustee and Advisory Panel members are obviously appointed. The IAA pay for adjudicator memberships, therefore for an individual to sign up it is free, but we will need proof of your being an adjudicator (a letter of appointment or adjudication with your name on it) faxed or posted to the office before we can activate this type of account. For more information on rates or membership types please see the Address details to Country should all be self-explanatory. We do require a post code as well as a contact telephone number in case of problems with the application. Comments are really for anything you wish to add. We would be very grateful if you could use this box to indicate how you heard about EIN and also, if it is not obvious from the organisation, why you need access to EIN materials. Payment: Payment has to be sent to us in some form. The default payment method is by Credit Card. We can accept Visa, Mastercard and Visa Delta only (we cannot currently accept American Express or Switch). If you selected Credit Card you will need to add your credit card number in Credit Card Details, select your Card Type and give us the name on your credit card exactly as given on the card under Credit Card name. Please also add in the Expiry Date using the format "MM/YY" (e.g. 11/02) and any issue number if relevant. NB - if the address that statements are sent to is different from the general address you have given us please enter the credit card statement address in the comments box. If you select Cheque then you will obviously not have to fill in the credit card details (even though the * may not disappear from the credit card boxes). However we will not activate your account until we have received your cheque at the EIN office (address on contact details). Please make cheques payable to "Electronic Immigration Network". If you select Direct Debit we will at present still need an initial cheque from you, to ensure a speedy set-up of the service, but we will send Direct Debit forms for you to complete for future payments. Once you have finished the form and pressed 'Send Info' please be patient - click only once as clicking more than once may re-send the form (which could be interpreted as a an application for multiple passwords).
